Time Below Cast Listing
Play that takes place in the early 1980s in Washington, DC. Scenes placed in a Congressional office, a medical clinic, a gay nightclub, a gay restaurant for brunch, and interior home scenes. This is extracted from a 24-episode epic nighttime soap called Mary Go-Round, was first performed as a stage play in 1999 in San Francisco. Other than the character of Archangel Michael and Cortland “Cory” Kendoll, all actors play multiple small parts and one main role. Main roles are listed and will be primary casting consideration, while secondary roles will be part of call-backs.
Minimalist, and utilitarian set with on-stage costume changes. Actors wear flesh-toned body suits with all character-specific costume and prop elements from waist up. Quick-paced scene-to-scene timing, on a dime character turn-around, and strong choreographic flow. Very physical in demands on actors, and production is a tight ensemble cast. Aiming for video release through free web media (YouTube, Vimeo, etc.) and possible live staged performances in local Hudson Valley area and Mahnattan.
Rehearsal period from mid-February through March 24, filming from March 25 through 30. Unpaid video performance and rehearsal, but theatrical performances will be compensated by stipend.

Archangel Michael – [non-traditional casting, will consider any age, any race, any gender, any extreme type] - must force open-mindedness on the part of the audience.
Courtland Kendoll – [Caucasian male, blond, early 20s, strikingly good looking] – character speaks with Tennessee accent (same region Dolly Parton comes from). This is the protagonist role.
Dr. Todd Applegate – [Caucasian male, 30s or 40s, good looking, fit] – an openly gay character but very “normal” looking and acting, would pass as straight easily, very confident, seductive, in charge, able to be dishonest without qualms. ALSO PLAYS: Nightclub Twink, Gay Restaurant Patron
Sam Gibbons – [male, Caucasian or Racial Mix, late 20s early 30s, rugged good looks] – neighbor in apartment, is volunteer fireman, has severe psychological profile not at first clear to audience, but actor must have wide range and be able to “jump” between nice neighbor, sexual predator, paranoid introvert, victim and able to threaten violence in body posture and vocal undertones. ALSO PLAYS: Skinhead #1, Brad’s Lover, Mark (piano player mime).
Steward “Harvet” Melnick – [aging gay male, possibly overweight, 40s – 50s, must be able to sing solo Broadway tune very well] – the everyman tragic character, beyond likeable to loveable, extremely affected ultra femme gay archtype with deep human side. ALSO PLAYS: Skinhead #2, Cory’s boss Congressman Wendell Thurston.
Bradley Wilder – [male, 20s, redhead, very good looking, fit, sexy] – very out, very sexy, very likeable, aggressive and seductive in the most engaging way, likes to have fun and can make sure everyone with him does. ALSO PLAYS: Skinhead #3, Su Li Wang (female), Clinic Tech (female), Waiter.
John Lesh – [male, mid-late 20s, black, very fit] – plays undercover FBI agent, and love interest at odds with deep southern upbringing of Cory. Able to shift between FBI agent demeanor and very nice, warm lover, and has the mischievous side of a natural tickler. ALSO PLAYS: Miliscent Kendoll, William Jefferson Kendoll
