I am sending for a second time the itinerary of the Turner and SVRA events over the weekend - you will see the events for Turners are front loaded to the weekend schedules, this is on purpose to jump start the weekend, while we are all fresh, both Turners and drivers/owners.
As we are in the final stretch now - there is little new information , though I encourage all attending to review the attached schedule and plan time accordingly to join in the Turner activities. There is a slight change ( pull ahead ) in some of the Friday events - group picture and the cocktail party.
A small change to the Friday presentations - the two presenters will be Mr. Art Brow with his narrative and original race footage/movie and Mr. Jay Carano with his personal recollections at Tri-City and the Turner scene in general.
Stop by the Turner HQ tent throughout the weekend for periodic updates on our events and information on the black board and there will be 1 critical ( short ) meeting on Friday morning that will help you all keep up to date with the happenings.
Please remember to bring along a drink or food item that represents the area of the country you come from so all can share during the Friday evening cocktail party.
I am planning on having fresh percolated coffee and pastry for all Turner owners to enjoy on Friday and Saturday - of course this is a ploy to get all the Turner race drivers wide awake for the on track events so they can show the rest of the grid the fast way around the circuit!
I have also taken steps to procure enough bottles of bubbly to serve as a special treat waiting for all Turner racers & our guests the MG racers at the end of the St. George Trophy Sprint race. Remember that all racers in the St. George Trophy Sprint race are to pull into the designated area for the prize giving and a champagne celebration. This is my way of thanking you all for supporting Turners and the reunion.
I do have a dedicated photographer for our Turner Reunion, so there are sure to be some nice shots for the archives and of course, all will be able to purchase shots of the Turner group photo at cost. I will get a photo to our ever helpful Mr. Filby - for his Turner archives.
I now have in my hands the special award to be presented to the highest placing Turner in the St. George Trophy Sprint race- I had this cup commissioned and inscribed especially to honour the Turners and drivers. This special Jack Turner Cup is meant to be a revolving cup, where the winner is awarded the cup at the circuit, I will then take the cup back, have the winners name and car serial number inscribed, then mail it to the winner. The winner will be allowed to have possession of the cup for 1 year, then it must be returned at the next years Turner Reunion, whereby the previous winner will award the cup to the next recipient - this goes on and on until the cup is full names. I will then retake possession of the cup and post of to the Turner Registrar in England, so it can become part of the Turner archives. The cup is meant to be a means to honour the spirit under which Mr. Turner ran his works and developed out sports cars.
Of course the overall winner of the St. George Trophy Sprint race will receive an award as well, perhaps a Turner will claim both!
I would appreciate it is all Turner owners who will be attending could email me with a short note of their confirmed attendance - as the SVRA is very busy getting their registration duties underway, and I prefer not to bother them at this time to get a listing.
Many thanks and see you all soon at Mid Ohio
