Hi Michael - This is Not a problem I am familiar with being UK based and surrounded by RHD Turners , But thinking back to production the car would have used smaller 1"1/8th Twin SU on the 948cc and as I recall the intake was slightly angled where as I think the Spridget is fairly short and straight and used larger 1"1/4 HS2
Your best solution may be to obtain a classic 'Mini' intake , as the Mini was transverse with the carbs set up against the firewall and 'Angled' more to fit them in , I would guess you could use one of these manifolds to swing the carbs up at an angle for more clearance and they would be suited to the larger HS2 carbs - Note You may need to adjust the angle of the fuel floats if doing this but that is easy enough to do.
It will be Interesting to see what the other US racers are using to overcome this problem , Feel free to send over a photo sometime and I might be able to make some observational comments
I hope this is of some help - Regards Russell
