"He was a good priest"
Thank you Cardinal
|Tribute||"Full of Grace" regarding the memories of John Cardinal O'Connor is a book that is sacred and precious. Reflecting on the life of one of our most dedicated bishops and leaders of the catholic church. As A New Yorker and knowing the cardinal personally his death is heaven's gain, our loss. Beyond words I miss this extrodinary and powerful leader of whom spoke for the millions of infants in the womb of whom had no voice. I miss you cardinal o'connor and you are forever remembered and loved. Tears fill my eyes as I read this. I miss a very special friend and cardinal. Jenn |

|Tribute||I was blessed to grow up in the Archdiocese of New York under Cardinal O'Connor and his predecessor Terence Cardinal Cooke. I had the unique and unforgettable privledge of attending Mass at my hight school when Cardinal Cooke came to bless our new addition just a few weeks before his death. The following fall, Cardinal (then still Archbishop) O'Connor came to re-dedicate our addition as the "Cardinal Cooke Memorial Wing." Both times I was a matter of feet away from those two great shepherds. Of course, little did I realize then what a blessing it truly was! I hope and pray that, if it be the Lord's will, both men will someday be canonized saints of Holy Mother Church.|

|Tribute||I just bought his book, "Full of Grace." I love it. He truly was the best, great defender of life in all stages and founded the order, Sisters of Life, that he prayed to the holy spirit to for guidance in finding. He knew the late Senator Donovan who was a defender of life in the NYS. They shared great concerns about the battle for the unborn. Their legacies will live on. His family lost a real treasure, but only temporarily, they will meet in heaven.|

|Tribute||His Eminence John Cardinal O'Connor (My friend, John!) was a wonderful friend of mine and I miss him ever so dearly. We are both from Philadelphia and I am only a few years behind him in seminary. I still keep in contact with his sister. I will remember John, as a Christ like person here on earth and as a priest who served Christ ever so faithfully. He was truly a prince of the Church. May he rest in the embrace of his heavenly father!|
Rest in eternal Peace, John (Cardinal O'Connor). I love you and miss you my dear "brother".

|Tribute||Cardinal O'Connor was truly a remarkable man. He touched many lives, and befriended many people. If anyone was greater then him, it would be god. The following passage is what I saw and felt the day the day the next chapter in the Archdiocese came to a close.|
On the day of his wake, I took the first bus that I could to NYC to view the great cardinal for the final time. Even though he was physicaly dead, his spirit was more then ever alive and active. AS I walked past him lying there before the altar of god, I could feel his presence even stronger then ever. He may be gone in body, but he will always live on in mind and spirit. Amen.
|Tribute||While I am not, and have never been a practicing Catholic, I regard Cardinal O'Connor as one of my heroes. He was a man who exemplified Christ's teachings. All too often our church leaders forget to care for the downtrodden and those in the twilight of life. A moral and compassionate man, the world is a better place because he lived.|

|Tribute||His Eminence John Cardinal O' Connor was a great priest while serving the Church Militant. I'm sure he is in heaven now looking down at us praying for our intentions. I think that is why we're having problems with the election. |
His Eminence was very pro-life and I'm sure he is pleading to God to intervene in the USA's politics. His legacy will live on forever! He has been a true inspiration for me and my vocation for the priesthood. Hopefully I will be a great priest like he was and is. I'm sad that his physical presence is not among us, but his spirit is with us. I remember serving the Funeral Mass and we applauded as the Pall Bearers carried his coffin, the feeling that in that coffin was a hero, a great leader left me in awe and took my sorrow away.
Enjoy heaven sweet prince of the Catholic Church, pray for your Archdiocese of NY, and for your Church, and especially for the USA. You will never be forgotten! Much love to you Blessed Father, we shall see you again in paradise.

Make a glorious sound
Ring out to the heavens
From this earthly ground
Summon the angels awaiting on high
Reverberate the air and resound all the sky
Ring Churchbells Ring
Ring out louder today
Ring out with all your heart
As our respects we do pay
Words not sufficing the time that is nigh
So Ring Churchbells Ring
Ring out our goodbye

|Tribute||It was refreshing to see an American Cardinal unequivocally defend not just unborn life, but all life. No disrespect to our current Cardinals; but Cardinal O'Connor was everything that I expected from a Cardinal. His defense and eloquent exposition of the Vatican and the Holy Father gave me much encouragement. His defense of the poor, and fight for social justice made him a giant. We will probably never see an American Cardinal of his like again in our lifetime. Rest in the Love of Our Lord and Our Mother. |
Peace be with you, J P Koch
Thanks to everyone who took the time to leave their tributes! God bless you.
Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace. Amen.
May his soul and all the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
