: : I just read on the internet about a Riggs/Waterloo Aboretum.

: : Does this have any connection to the Riggs family I know?

: Ed, from talking with Roy Riggs in the past, I believe that either his father or grandfather established the arboretum. The 1958 Kingman Diamond Jubilee Program states: "It was started in 1887 and until 1906 it was a government experiment station operated by J.W. Riggs." It is located close to where the Waterloo grade school was.

:: April, 2005: Technically, your information is incorrect. Anyone with questions should direct them to the current owner and operator of the Riggs Arboretum: John Walter Riggs, the grandson and namesake of the late scholar and educator. He can be reached at 785-227-3858 or 3787. He, or his wife, Jane, can answer any queries you might have regarding the Arboretum.
