Hi Kees! I can update you slightly in regard to Caine's 'Teviot 74' frames. Apparently they weren't issued free on the NHS but became popular at the time for being a stylish though inexpensive alternative to those issued free and were easily fitted with NHS lenses. That UK Optical range have been described by some as the first affordable 'designer' frames available in the UK. I think that the term, 'designer' may be a bit strong! An optician I know remembers the range as the choice of people wanting to 'cut a dash' but on a budget. Very Harry don't you think?!
