25 - 30 years is about the average. My little guy Chico is 19 1/2 and is defying the odds with a kidney tumor that the vet told us in May that he might not last the month. 6 months and counting do not under estimate the endurance and energy of the lovable wonderful birds. Chico has not slowed down a bit but part of it might be the pain meds he takes. Sorry about Yoshi but they are much tougher than the average bird.
From my understanding, GGC's live to be 25 or 30 when healthy. Are you working with a vet? My taco is now around 14 still active, and a pain in the butt as GGC's are! I expect her to live and drive me crazy for another 10+ years! I love her!
: : What is a good life span to expect of a GCC? My Yoshi (cinnamon GCC) is about 9. Sick w/what is either an infection or cancer. Treating for infection, if that doesn't work, it's cancer and nothing can be done. Was just wondering if she's considered "middle age" yet. She is happy and not acting "off" at all, so hoping for the best.
