: I've had my bird for 6 years now but when I first got him he was not well socialized and I wore bandaids on every finger of every hand for the first six months from rather viscious biting. Use positive reinforcement. When our bird used a gentle beak, I went into all kinds of praise about it. Now he tells ME to use a "gentle beak" when I'm stripping pin feathers. Yeah,he still nips occationally, but it's maybe once a month where it used to be 4 or 5 times a day. And it's so important to try to understand the circumstances in which you're being bitten. Instead of biting, I've taught my bird to just fly back to his cage if he's tired of being with me.
Well, Zoey's at it now. I guess they go through stages ? He's talking to me, but started biting. Who knows why ? He'll stop.
He's becoming a little food begger too. He knows when I'm eating an wants to share.
What about milk ?
He had some today, a tiny bit in my cereal.
