Hi - I suspect that most of you will be outside with the BBQ, unlike me as I'm trying hard to get my EM 1 on the road again in time for the 15 August gathering at Stow Maries.
I need to remove the steering column plus box from the car in order to lift off the centre section.
The steering arm that is fastened to the box (a Standard 10 unit, I'm reliably informed by Martin Collins) is held on to the drive shaft by a castellated nut/split pin but having removed the nut without a problem,I found that the arm is splined on to the drive shaft.
Despite using lots of PlusGas and a 2-jaw gear puller, I can't get the arm off.
I can't see that any additional fixing method is either necessary or visible but I would be glad to hear from anyone who has successfully carried out a similar operation.
Hope that you enjoyed your BBQ this summer!!!
