I was with 'B' Troop 56 Field Squadron. 24 Field Engineer Regiment RE. bringing the camp at Kohima up to scratch ready for the Yanks to take over when you left. I have been browsing the photos and find that I still have mine on your site. Many thanks for that. Anyone want to contact me do so we can then perhaps have a chin wag. Good luck to you all.

CommentsCool site,
Thanks for taking the time to make it ;)
So anyways, I am the son of David Rees Maloney.
He was stationed in Lemgo and I believe he went to Aden with some of you. Did anyone know him, My brother Dan and myself would like to know more about him and his time there. I also believe he had a hard time and he told us some of the worst things he had to do. I would also like to find out more about his day to day. I can't ask him as he passed away some years back. 4 years to be exact. Your help would be much appreciated.

It would be great to have a written record that the children could read along with the photos we have.If anyone has a spare few minutes to email me would be great to hear from anyone that knew my dad as a young man thank you xx

CommentsA great site, I am researching my late fathers service to the colours of 1st Battallion Royal Sussex Regiment. Both he Ernest (aka Billy, Nobby) and his brother George served together. Dad joined in 1935 and left 1946 having served at home, Palestine,Cyprus and Egypt through the war years. I have some wonderful photos of his time and memorabilia including his silver (gold crest) regimental ring which I wear. As an ex RAF Police SNCO (23yrs)I will be attending the Cenotaph with my association proudly wearing my late dad's medals, if you are there please make yourself known to me. Keep up the good work on the site, and if you are from my fathers time in service please feel free to contact me. Stay safe all!

CommentsGreat to find this site and see some old faces, I lost touch with everyone as I was on a posting during the amalgamation and redundancy phases, then returned to a totally alien regiment. But at least its nice to remember the good times. I can feel a wave of nostalgia coming on.

CommentsA great site which evokes many memories of the good & bad times whilst in & out of the Army. The banter among comrades has not changed over the decades, and the friendly rivalry between the various sections, platoons, coys & bns will never die - as someone has already commented reading the message board is similar to reading Bn Part 1 Orders or Coy Detail- long may it keep going. From little acorns mighty oaks grow....

CommentsAs a mere TA soldier I feel a little bit of a fraud posting on the message board.

However, having found the website and seeing pictures of people I spent some time with over 40 years ago, I have nothing but praise for this website.

Not only does it provide me with a little nostalgia but also a vehicle for touching base with people I thought I would never see or hear from again.

Camaraderie could not be more prominently expressed anywhere, as well as it is on this site and it is an indictment to the long lasting friendships that can only be found with ex servicemen.

Having spent some time reading the various comments on the message board I am proud to have been associated with The Royal Sussex Regiment and I thank you for this opportunity for voicing my thoughts.

CommentsThis is an outstanding site that is dedicated to reuniting members of our Regiment from all over the world.

Look around the other military sites that are available on the great WWW and you will not find a better one than the one run here by Jonah and Les. Every day there is fresh information, stories and photographs for all members to enjoy.

The site map will take you to 18 different pages each containing a wealth of information that other sites can only wish for.

The photo galleries are bursting at the seams and each one carries the names of the people in them and most are dated, from Korea through to the 3rd Battalions disbandment in Cyprus.

The two main power houses that keep the site moving forward at a pace, and to which all members are indebted to are, Bob Jones the Webmaster Ex 3 Queens from Belize – and the sites historian Les [the Bat] Deacon Ex 1 Royal Sussex and 3 Queens from Bavaria [some lesser mortals think he only operates only at night and spends his days hanging upside down - but we know better!!].

Thanks to Jonah and Les,
Stay safe,
John Blanchette.

Now, due to Jonah, The "Bat" and JWB we are able to remain in contact. How can we ever thank you for the long hours and hard work that you have put in on our behalf?
