Your messageHi i have just bought an Eccles topaz S, I can find a broucher online which suggests its 1982-1988/9 somewhere I have no idea exactly what year and I cant locate the plate as someone has rather coated it in underseal. Anyone know exactly where the plate would be? or anything about this van? I can give you more details if you'd like by email, any help would be much appreciated, its my first van

Your messageThanks for your enquiry. I have sent you a spec. sheet on the 1982/83 range of Eccles models which I hope you will find useful. I’m pretty sure the chassis was galvanised, I had one myself, but bear in mind it’s 34 years old now. One thing to look out for is a “spongy” floor. A lot of these were fixed under warranty, mine wasn’t unfortunately, so be sure to check. Otherwise they were great little vans and you should have fun with it.

Your messageHello Iris

Difficult to say how rare your Moonstone may be as any van of 1964 vintage is likely to be quite rare now. What I can say is that the Moonstone in all it's guises even now is one of the most popular of the entire range so there will almost certainly be a few still around.

Seems odd that someone would sell a van with no keys; sure it hasn't been nicked? 15.2 sounds like about 1990. At that time I think the key number was stamped on the outside of the lock, (very secure!)It is probably MR?? something in which case you should be able to pick them up from any half decent dealer. Otherwise you'll need to buy all new barrels, again available from any decent dealer with an accessory shop.

Your messageAnswer to Jeff and similar enquirers is to look at our website under "parts and accessories". For recent vans the obvious place to look for parts is a dealer but for older vans your only source is likely to be a breaker, details of several will found under the same heading.

Your messageAmazing find for those of you travelling to Normandy France D Day area, new site, advertised on ukcampsites Caen. we popped in as the only one open all year for miles. only £15 inclussive water and electric. dogs free. it's beautiful Stud farm.
Warm welcome and have to say they could not do enough to help. shops a mass of them close by (walking distance) views to die for, and so central for D Day stuff the site was also in the conflict..
they are embers of britany Ferries club voyage and offer all members of Eccles their discount just text them if you are travelling with Brit ferrys 07850 511893, they get points for it's use.. Text them for bookings it's cheaper and not on line out there... 20 minutes from the ferry.
A must visit and they used to be Eccle owners in the 60's with skylight top vans... great to meet such like minded folk... they will make your holiday.. piop in and see Sue and Steve la Garenne, Aunay Sur Odon, Normandy. France....

Your messageHi I have today returned home with my 1970's Eccles Amythest caravan (one owner from new and in a barn for the last 15yrs)! My intention was to give her a make over.
Out of interest I thought I would check the internet to find out a little bit about the Eccles history and realise I am possibly now the owner of quite a rare caravan. If this is the case I will be reluctant to make over her original 70's interior.
Is anyone able to advise me how common or rare they are?
I am aware that they were thought to be the cutting edge of design but they didn't become popular. I wouldn't want to lose a bit of caravan history if they are indeed rare.
Thanks Michele

Your messageHello everybody,
As yuo alreadey noticed, my name is Urban Göhlin, I´m living in Sweden and I´m also a lucky owner of an old Eccles Birmingham Caravan, model Imperial built in 1939. My caravan was exported from Great Britain to Sweden in june 1939, just before the second world war. I think, but I´m not sure, my caravan is the only one in Sweden built in 1939. My wife and I is working-restoring the caravan. My caravan needs a lot of care to get fit for new holyday trips. Hope to here from you.
PS: I´m also intrested to join your club.

Your messageJust a note to say: When I left school 1961, my family got an old Eccles caravan to live a Gypsy life and travel England in search of a new town to live in. I can give you some details about it from memory. 1Ton 17Cwt 4qtrs (I think) Coke stove, with copper hot water tank. Gas lights, with a gassy never forgotten smell (I'm sure it wasn't too healthy, but it was interesting) I seem to remember cut glass mirrors maybe. A wooden partition separated the two ends. I might have even had two doors, but perhaps not? We had a Rover 12 1936 to pull it and going up Lincoln hill we had to all get out, and the gas bottle, coke etc, while dad took it up the hill before coming back for us. Going down the other side was more interesting, as it pushed us till the tyres squealed, good job dad was a good driver (Instructor in the war) After a few months, we got a house and moved in. Brilliant adventure indeed. All the best.

Your messageHello I've always liked Eccles Caravans from a very early age. My great Aunt had one, parked 'semi static' at Southwold in Suffolk in the early sixties. The neighbouring caravan (make unknown) of the same vintage is amazingly still there amongst a sea of big modern statics. Id like to purchase an early 12ft 'Coronation'or similar for restoration or at least track down original drawings. Hoping your members may be able to help. I do have limited knowledge but I know what I like!
Thanking you kindly
