Evelyn and Yogi, thanks for the kind words. Let's hope and pray that the Lord showers us again with strength and blessings so we could be of help again to our needing alumni.
Let's give credit where credit is due. I would like to say that I did all of the job by myself but the reality is, I wouldn't have been able to do them all if not for your concern, love and care for your fellow alumni. The same credit should also go to the other "good Samaritans" in the likes of Jaime (Rosales), Arnulfo (Doctor), Brenda (Ramirez), Manong Conrado (del Castillo), Manang Erlinda (Oliviano-Byrd), Nida (Dacanay-Sison), Lejocel (Soliven), Rudyardo (Lecitona), Rufo (Bruan) who initiated the 1st letter that spread the unfortunate news and our webmaster, Elvira (Doot-Trus), Vicente (Marquez), Deogracias (Batarina), Eden (Mina-Esguerra) Carmen's former classmate and one of our donors from OLLA, Fe Ramos-Esteban another Lilian who informed me about Carmen's misfortune and made copy of all our e-mail and handed them to her to read, and other alumni, friends and kaili who I either missed to mention or would rather be quiet and not be mentioned. Yes, that's the truth facing me! I'm not blessed with a family of my own but I have the "Alumni Association" to lead and love. And for sure one would say, "it's not a normal life" for a man like me.
There's a time after the 1st Grand Reunion when I told a lot of people I was ready to quit as the President of the Alumni Association but my resolve and determination prevailed. I guess I'm just destined to be "It"! But looking back in time, I'm just proud to say that through thick and thin, the Association has survived its tumultuous years, grown and is still active beyond expectation. Through it's resourcefulness, the Association has helped a lot of its alumni, young and old alike, to include former college students, locate and communicate with long lost friends, classmates as well as former teachers. This has benefited the majority of the alumni especially those of us from the 70's who were incommunicado with our classmates and teachers for 25 long years. The question that begs to be asked, "aren't you glad you're communicating with your friends, classmates and former teachers again?" "Yes" will be the response no doubt!
Raffy and myself, together with the other officers of the Association are just glad to be of help bridge the communication between of our alumni and teachers......for as long as our logistics allow us and for as long as we can.
God bless us all and let's have a wonderful weekend!!
