180 HP/ single puck brakes

Posted by on August 09, 2007 at 13:04:41:

I need someone to contact me with a Sedan that has the 180HP conversion (STC SA302NW) and is using 8.50 X 6.00 tires with the SINGLE PUCK brakes, our STC SA1113NW.

Originally this STC listed (incorrectly) 6:00 X 6.00 tires. The 6:00 X 6.00 tire is too small and was never approved on the Sedan. Original tire is a 7:00 X 6.00.

If I cannot come up with data that shows the single puck brakes can hold at full static rpm with the 80" or 82" prop and 8:50 X 6.00 tires then the FAA will remove the single puck brake from STC SA302NW and approval of these brakes on 180HP airplanes.

Please contact me immediately so that this can get resolved. If this does not get done then you may be forced to change over to the double puck brakes because the single puck with the 8.50 X 6.00 tires would be unapproved. You must run the 8.50 X 6.00 to have proper ground clearance for the 80" or 82" props.

Sorry for the problems here but I swear I didn't make this up; I couldn't! (and wouldn't!)
