: : I wonder if anyone can help? I have afriend staying in Ipswich for 2 months. In her own country she teaches tango - and really misses dancing [she is not looking to teach - although she is willing!].

: : I'm a wheelchair user - so am the least knowledgable person in the world about this. So - does anyone know of any tango goin gon? Please? Thanks. Iris W
The Arlington School of Dancing have an excellent instructoress (Sarah) and instructor (Rob). I understand that there is a six month waiting list to get a private lesson with Rob. You could try telephoning them at 01473-251323. You could also try the Lait School at 215543. They are the only two schools in Ipswich that I know about. They both have regular social dancing, but I don't feel that there is much, if any, tango in their social dances. One of the nightclubs (Pals, I think) say (or I believe so) that they have a Tango social club; for the Argentine tango, I believe.
I would love to partner your friend but the only trouble is that I don't know very many steps for the tango yet, although I know, very roughly, how to dance it (more or less and very English).
I would not dream of approaching your friend direct. If she is interested then she could telephone me at 01449-741754.
Cheers. And I hope she enjoys England, and particularly Suffolk.
Philip Tarbuck.
