I know quite a few people who grew up at the home and are now leading very productive lives in our community. And each of them (that I know) are still somehow involved with the home, through financial donations or service. It truly becomes a family, which doesn't end when you grow up and leave home.
It amazes me how many of the "children" become such good, and even exceptional citizens. They had such a rough start and in general our society doesn't pay much attention. Instead of being homeless, drug addicts and/or criminals their lives are fostered toward success.
I am aware that it is a model for other homes around the country, much like Boys Town was (founded in early 1900s).
