It is known that a majority of American Catholics are pro-choice. This is not my opinion but something discussed by the Vatican. It is not something that is approved, and they discuss on a regular basis how to deal with private beliefs.

It is also stated that having an abortion is a sin that can be absolved by a local Priest, rather than needing to go up the chain to a Bishop.
