I did find the article your link referred to, and it's from 1997 and only focused on NM, not the entire SW.
It's a study on century-long drought and century-long rainfall, studying why some areas of earlier groups of people in NM died out/moved on, but also useful for FIRE MANAGEMENT.
Thanks for pointing it out to me because it was interesting, but not specific to the "worst drought in 1200 years" article everyone seems to be quoting.
The 100-year weather patterns in NM really gave some good info on rainfall and drought cycles.
