: : : Add in China switching much of its beef and some other large commodity purchases from Australia to the US due to their brewing trade war with Oz.
: : : In what world would you think all that would not result in food shortages and skyrocketing prices? It matters not one whit who is running the government under those circumstances, food is going to get expensive. Add in the supply line disruptions for everything from overseas due to the pandemic, and most of what you buy is going to get scarce and expensive, ditto.
: : : Dependence on cheap overseas suppliers and just-in-time inventories is a problem that has been growing for decades. So is the issue of increasing climate change and natural disasters.
: : : Pretending the problems are all caused by an administration that has been in office for a year is idiotic. Stoking up the partisan mudslinging has proven to be a surefire way to keep the public's attention off the real issues, though, and make sure they don't unite to demand real solutions, so I expect that will just continue to get worse, one election after another.
: : : And all I can say to those who have read the news for the past 2 years, but only stocked up on toilet paper is where the hell was your head?
