When my grandfather was a small-town dentist, he not only did anything that needed doing, he did a lot of his own lab work making dentures, etc. (I knocked my two front teeth out at age 3 and for a few years had what were probably the only child-sized false teeth in the world, custom made. The local dentist back home ran around telling all his colleagues to come look at them at my next annual visit, lol.)
As they say, those were the days.
