I have old Federal/State tax documents with my Soc. Sec. number on them that I would like to shred. I used to be able to take them to a place called ProShred where I could watch them process my items.
Now, because of COVID, they adopted a "No contact" policy where you place your items in a locked container, and they do the shredding the next business day. Do they just take the locked container and dump its contents into the shredder or do the attendants reach into the locked container and pull your items out?
I know there is on-site shredding, but I live in an apt. complex and would have to take my boxes down stairs and wait outside until the guys came. Plus, I don't know if their truck would fit in my parking space (they shred on the spot), so as to not block cars driving in and out of the parking lot.
How do you all handle shredding of your sensitive items? Thanks.
