If the results are posted to the online chart

you wouldn't really need a followup visit, right?

My healthcare network's online chart (labs/Rad) does not post results until they are "cleared" by the MD and he then releases them to the online chart. So the docs have to sign off on the results before patient sees them.

If I don't have to go back for another visit, our network allows the provider (usually a nurse) to call you with the results and any further instructions, med changes, etc. (They do document a nurse visit in the online chart, however, for the phone call. Not sure if they are billing my Medicare for that, I never get a bill for a phone call with a nurse). I've never had to go back to the office just to hear the results. It's done over the phone, and usually by that time, I've seen them in the online chart.
