Hearing Aids -- Any suggestions? (SM)

I only need ONE but they "suggested" two - they weren't pushy at all.

I wanted the "in canal" totally hidden one but they highly suggested not to - due to the "in a barrel" sound.

I ended up ordering an Oticon which has a clear insert but a behind-the-ear type. I ordered it the same color as my hair. I'm not all that vain about someone seeing it; but I hope it can withstand my activity level. NUMEROUS times a day I go outside (lots of outdoor activites; horses, dogs, huge yard, etc. I do wrap up like a burglar to stay out of the sun. I put a pull-over type mask on and also a hat. I am worried this is going to interfere with the behind-the-ear aid. Also I wear Rx sunglasses. So all of that on my ear on & off all day I fear will be a PITA. (Pain in the @$$)

Just curious as to if anyone has advice, suggestions, pros or cons. I'm 66 now and learned that loss of hearing can cause dementia so I'm going to be proactive about it. Plus my husband won't have to listen to TV turned on HIGH.
