I am sure it isn't necessary to feign belief in Jesus to make friends with folks. Christians (other than those of the severely conservative/fundamentalist school, perhaps) should be able respect and like you just fine in spite of (or even because of) your differing beliefs. I notice you are not arrogant or unfair about it, so if someone has a problem with your religion, it is *their* problem. Free country, and all that...
They ought to be accustomed to meeting people who do not subscribe to their set of beliefs which are, after all, invested to varying degrees in the supernatural and, as such, subject to sound debunking in our time.
So I would advocate your being quite noncloset about what you believe and what you heartily doubt. You'll have a circle that appreciates your integrity.
