When Robert Jones first opened the site in 1994 he couldn’t have imagined that it would ever attract so many members and so much interest as it has generated. Sadly Robert passed away unexpectedly in 1918. he made us promise we would continue the running of the site in his name and uphold its good name this we promised to do. Colin and I don't have the expert knowledge in running the site but we will prod along as best we can to uphold its name. Seeing the posts from Dilly, it takes me back to the time when we arrived in Malta in early 1965 when we went through training company under Harry Barstow and Charles Burton. Dilly, Mick Wilson, and Mac (can’t remember his second name but I think he was from IJLB), arrived in Mata at the same time and one of us, not me, had a driving licence and we rented a car and visited a couple of places on the island. As a naïve and immature 17 year old, having spent the previous couple of years in Tonfanau, North Wales with a short spell in Canterbury, the social life in Malta was amazing. I would love to be 17 again but have the brain and wisdom of a 30 year old. Not sure whether being in the body of a 17 year old now would work as I’m now far too cautious to make best use of it!!

John, I’m glad to hear that you have recovered reasonably well from your stroke and can still enjoy life to some extent and hopefully it will remain that way for a good few years yet.

Picking up from Dilly, rank counts for nothing on this site, say what you want to say and be prepared to take incoming if it’s something controversial. I’ve had a few things thrown at me over the past couple of years but accept that my opinions may not suit everybody. The important thing is that I can still have a drink with those who don’t agree with my views when I meet up with them at reunions.
