When Robert Jones first opened the site in 1994 he couldn’t have imagined that it would ever attract so many members and so much interest as it has generated. Sadly Robert passed away unexpectedly in 1918. he made us promise we would continue the running of the site in his name and uphold its good name this we promised to do. Colin and I don't have the expert knowledge in running the site but we will prod along as best we can to uphold its name. Major Steve Elwood

Posted by RossP on Wed, Sep 28 2022 at 05:48 AM CDT:

Yesterday, my wife and I attended the Memorial and Thanksgiving service to celebrate the life of Major Steve Elwood. We met his wonderful family, his wife, she is in her ninety’s, and still manages to get around. We also met his Grandchildren who are a brilliant bunch of youngsters, very humorous, outgoing, intelligent and friendly.
There were also a few Ex Paras also a few Royal Sussex ties showing. The Royal Sussex Regiment Association President Major McCulley attended. Also, many Royal Sussex Regimental wives of veterans were there recognised by their Regimental broaches on their lapels.
Major Steve Elwood lived a full life with his horse riding, fishing and his love of nature. He even entered point to point horse events in his eighties.
He was a highly respected Regimental officer of the Royal Sussex Regiment.
