When Robert Jones first opened the site in 1994 he couldnít have imagined that it would ever attract so many members and so much interest as it has generated. Sadly Robert passed away unexpectedly in 1918. he made us promise we would continue the running of the site in his name and uphold its good name this we promised to do. Colin and I don't have the expert knowledge in running the site but we will prod along as best we can to uphold its name. Reunion sitrep part two

Posted by RossP on Sat, Sep 17 2022 at 11:22 AM CDT:

Talking to a Royal Sussex veteran who attended the reunion at Lewes, he was devastated how the whole affair went
When he arrived at the hall he noticed that there were only nine tables, once seated there were about eighty people that had turned up.
The luncheon was really good enjoyed by all.

When, as was the usual custom, they asked for ĎThose who served in the 1st Battalion The Royal Sussex Regiment, stand upí, only about ten veterans stood up. That means the other seventy had not served in the Royal Sussex.
I was led to believe that it was a Royal Sussex Regimental reunion! Apparently, apart from the Queens Regiment and TA personnel the others must have been friends and friends of friends. It does go to show, how the supposed regimental association is failing the veterans by inviting non served people to the reunion.

It is time for the association to stop pretending that itís a Royal Sussex Regimental reunion and call the whole charade something else.
