A lot of you know me and most if not all of you knew dad or his brothers, dad died on Tuesday 7th of June and our next branch meeting was the followin day where I was asked if I would be ok to continue his position as branch secretary which I was willing to accept, I will be going back to being branch standard bearer when health allows and to make sure that everyone is happy, my beret and royal sussex badge will be staying at home and I will find a baseball cap, dads medals will stay at home and I wont be needing a blazer badge either as I will be wearing a pair of jeans, there is npobody in Hastings branch capable or willing to take these positions on and it appears that my behavious will be acceptable as I wont be pretending to be something I;m not, if I wanted to be a Walt then dads other brother who was 29 commando would surely have more clout and influence as they are still in existence and wasn't amalgamated 56 years ago into a regiment that only lasted 28 years before they were amalgamted again. Those of you that want to hear my opinion in person feel free to ask when you see me. I'll be the big bloke wearing his fathers royal sussex tie (which he got from Col. Arnold) I have supported this association since birth and never signed up so if you want a standard bearer representing you in jeans tshirt and baseball cap, feel free to carry on. I offered a solution to this and even contacted a company tyo dewsign a tie and blazer badge and as I hadn't served suggested the reinstatement of the volunteer battalion badge. This seperation between the haves and have nots needs to stop and we need to do what we can to prolong the life and the of The Royal Sussex Regiment.
