: Thank you for that. I think I knew the first part of that from dealing with DWP 10 years ago.
: But I was not aware that allegedly i paid / people paid a lower NI. Contribution. How on earth now can I check that . To my knowledge I paid the going rate.
: How also am I payed a lower state pension than another soldier .
: Both served full time yet he is about £100 per month more pension than me.
: I paid as far as I am aware the normal tax bands throughout my working life.no lower rate there.
: Appreciate your comments.
Dilly, Comparing your state pension with another’s is difficult as so many different factors are involved. For example, age and any employment before joining up, deferring claiming pension etc. You can give the Pension Service a ring on 0800 731 0469 between 0800-1700, Monday to Friday and ask them to check whether you are getting the right amount. I didn’t qualify for an army pension as I left before the changes in 1975 and joined the police. I was also ‘contracted out’ under the police pension scheme and getting £617 per month state pension. What are you getting?
