HELP PRESERVE POTENTIAL WAR GRAVES IN THE GOODWIN SANDS
After 2.5 years of battling to prevent the Marine Management Organisation (MMO) granting Dover Harbour Board (DHB) a licence to dredge the Goodwin Sands, they still went ahead with the authorisation at the end of July. This was in the face of significant opposition and informed opinion.
The area of the Goodwin Sands, off Deal in Kent, where they intend to dredge is the final resting place of innumerable sailors as well as air-crew from WW2 and yet the archaeological contractors, Wessex Archaeology, employed by DHB, appear to have deliberately downplayed their presence. In August, a video was released which appears to show a bomber lying on the Sands; this was described as a 'seafloor disturbance' in reports produced by Wessex Archaeology. Do please look at the short film which can be found at:
SOS Goodwin Sands, the organisation battling this desecration, have taken advice from top environmental lawyers who believe they have a strong case for Judicial Review. This complicated process is now underway and they are fund-raising as a matter of priority.
If you agree that this potential desecration should not take place please write to your MP or to the Prime Minister and/or donate to the crowd funding to launch the Judicial review. You can do this by going to:

SOS Goodwin Sands are also asking anyone who supports their campaign to prevent the desecration of what amounts to war graves, to ensure that all friends, colleagues and any appropriate associates and organisations have sight of the fund-raising link, as well as their web page.
I do hope that you will feel able to support this campaign.
