: Testing to see if you can donate a kidney begins with a blood test. The test will determine your blood type and if it will match the recipient's blood (compatibility). If your blood type is compatible with the recipient, two more blood tests will be done (tissue typing and cross-matching).
Unfortunately I was diagnosed 4 years ago with acute kidney disease so I am unable to help anyone.
However I do feel for Bob after enduring an overnight stay in the renal unit for tests, on the positive side all the patients on dialysis seemed to be enjoying life to the full, albeit restricted.
Obviously Bob will be better off in the UK and live a far more comfortable life with the treatment received under the good old NHS.
