It appears our Web Master Bob Jones is returning to the UK due to ill health. Apparently his kidneys are not working properly and he will need to undergo dialyses treatment which involves 3 X 4 hour treatments on a dialyses machine at a local hospital every week for the rest of his life or until a suitable kidney is donated. Are you on the Organ Donation register? I am. We all as you know have two kidneys but, we only need one to survive. All it takes to see if you can donate a kidney is a simple blood test. So we need to know what Blood Type is Bob Jones. When I know I will publish it. I will be ask for a blood test to see if I am compatibly. If I am he can have one of mine, and that is a promise.
Testing to see if you can donate a kidney begins with a blood test. The test will determine your blood type and if it will match the recipient's blood (compatibility). If your blood type is compatible with the recipient, two more blood tests will be done (tissue typing and cross-matching).
