Correspondence IN:
a) Email from Anne Scicluna said that she undertaking a course to enable her to guide tourists
in Chichester Cathedral. Over the years she has noticed a silver Maltese Cross on the altar in St.
George’s Chapel. Anne would like to know if we could shed any light on this connection.
b) Emails from Major Brian Hudson reference Junior Mayor for the Day on Monday 23
The Mayor, Councillor Peter Evans has chosen Parklands School as the school to take part as per
last year and join the Royal Sussex Regimental Association St George’s Day Service in Chichester
c) Email from Colonel Rod Arnold reference the state of our trees in the National Arboretum.
It appears the soil is not good for trees, which is remarkable as it was originally chosen as a
Tree Memorial site. Various ideas were put forward, however it would seem that the
preferred choice is a simple garden bench.
The wooden bench with our Regimental Badge mounted on it and will be inscribed

REGIMENT”. The Bench costs £1,100 and the Plaque £650 – a total of £1,750.
We need to raise this money ourselves and I would hope that Branches will make a
Significant Contribution. The Mid - Sussex Branch has already promised an initial
donation of £250 and will seek to raise more. I would be most grateful if you could consult
your Branch Members with a view to help raise the money required.
d) Email from Brian Morley offering his apologies unable to attend tonight’s meeting.
