Minutes of the Monthly Meeting held at the Chichester City Club Wed 13
December 2017.
The meeting opened with a minutes silence for those no longer with us.
1 Apologies: M Franks, G Wheatley, D Whittington, G Whittington, G Allen, B Morley, R Smith,
K White, P Lawler, Bailey, I Smith, J Smith, J Walters.

2 Members Present: E Drew, D Tilley, M Humme, D Callen, T Cox , P Cox, T Booker, A Arnell, M Bright,
F Hill, B Goddings, G Fielder, J White, M Allen, P Budge, J Fowler, N Taggart, S Ulrich,
R Ulrich, R Lintott, P Fogden, C Macer.

3 Welfare : John Walters has had a knee replacement and sends his apologies.
Tony Booker said that his wife Kathleen, passed away on the 30
November and the Funeral
will be in Havant crematorium at 13:00 hrs on Monday 18
December 2017.

4 Minutes: All present received a copy of the minutes of the previous meeting. There were no matters
arising . It was proposed by J Fowler, and seconded by T Cox, that they be accepted
as true Record. This was duly passed.
5 Chairmans Report: It’s good to see so many of you here. Thank you all for your participation in the various
events marking Remembrance last month. Now that all the Remembrance tide of events are
over we can cruise into the festive season. As your Chairman I like to wish you all a Merry
Christmas and a Happy and Healthy New Year. And I finally like to thank you all for turning
up this evening and my thanks to Trevor for doing today’s draw. Take care and stay safe.

6 Secretaries Report: The Secretary said that he and Dave Tilley distributed boxes of chocolates and biscuits
to the Branch Widows.
Correspondence IN:
a) Received from Anne Scicluna an article about “Chichester Falls Silent on Remembrance
Sunday” with a picture of John White leading a group of proud Veterans singing “Sussex By
The Sea”.
b) Emails from John Walters and Brian Morley sending their apologies for next meeting.
c) Letter from Mrs P Wagstaff thanking the Branch members for remembering her.
d) A Card from Mrs Tilley from Parklands, sending her best wishes to all members.
Correspondence OUT:
a) Minutes to Postal list and email list.

b) A letter sent to Mayor of Chichester on behalf RSA & QRA thanking him for his continued
support for our Veterans organisations.
c) Letter to the Editor of the Chichester Observer on the 16
November 2017 pointing out some
errors published in the papers. They did follow up with a small apology in the next edition.

7. Treasurers Report : Greg gave out The Branch accounts as follows:-
Current ac - £74.45 Income at a meeting: Raffle. £39.00
Memorial ac - £442.39 Welfare. £12.65
Deposit ac - £1504.40 Membership.£20.00
Total - £2021.24 Total: £71.69
8 Entertainment: From the members that attended The joint Christmas Party we had a really
Enjoyable time. A BigThank you to the QRA.

Greg Fielder then gave a brief update on the Priez Memorial Trip in 2018, and handed out
forms to members . To secure a booking you need to pay a non- refundable deposit of £40.00.

9 AOB: The Chairman then introduced Peter Fogden ex REME, who would like to join the Branch. All
members were in favour of Peter becoming a member.
Peter Cox then proposed his son John, who lives in Wiltshire also would like to become a member.
John was accepted into the Branch by the members . Both Peter and John paid their £10 lifetime-
Membership fee.
Trevor Cox then thanked his wife for donating the food hamper for the raffle and thanked the Branch
for his bottle of Port.
Dave Tilley reminded everyone that the QRA coach trip to the QRMW and mystery tour on the
June 2018, was open to the Branch members.

John White has put an order in to purchase a Royal Sussex “Boots & Beret” BB2 with the inscription
“Royal Sussex Regiment – Priez”. It is hoped to auction this to raise funds for the Priez Memorial Trip
at the Amateur Boxing event in February 2018.

There being no further business to discuss the meeting closed at 2020 hrs.
