Matters Arising: Tickets for Lewes will be distributed tonight and we still await the Goodwood tickets.
Jane Stevens thanked the Chairman for the superb branch turnout at David’s funeral.
Minutes of the last meeting were posted on the website, but unfortunately the wrong one. This will be rectified by the next meeting.

New Members: Nil.

Treasurers Report: The Treasurer, stated that there is £1,718.00 in the account, this is after paying £579.00 as half payment for the plinth.

Benevolence: The Benevolence Officer reported that Pal Delves is not too well and has lost some of his mobility.

Correspondence: The Secretary has received further instructions from RHQ PWRR regarding the Presentation of Colours on the 23 Sept. As it requires a lengthy rehearsal and subsequent early start. It has been wisely decided that veterans will not be marching on but be paraded around the ground and will salute at the appropriate moment (we will apparently be briefed). We will be required to be at Canterbury cricket ground by 0930, so this has entailed bringing forward the start time at Langney foot bridge to 0700 and pick ups revised accordingly. The cost of the minibus works out at £25.00 per head, payable at the next meeting. Dress is blazer, smart trousers, white shirt, regimental tie, beret and medals. Veteran and Affiliation badges to be also worn if in possession.
Relaxed rig after in bar/ lunch (no medals or berets) ties on or off – no half mast.

The Chairman has received an invite from the OC of the Pl Cmd at Eastbourne for the Branch to attend the PWRR Open Day on Sat 9 Sept. It will start at approx. 1000hrs. He has however informed them that we will have to be away just after lunch as it’s on the day of the Annual Reunion at Lewes.

Any other Business: Lewes Dinner tickets were distributed.

The Standard Bearer reported that the cheapest quote he could get for a new standard is £1400. Pal Bonner stated that he would provide a contact address, which he thinks would be cheaper. After discussion, it was decided that given our already large commitment to the plinth, we would get a quote for a temporary repair until funding becomes available for a new one. The Standard Bearer will investigate a quote for this and look into Pal Bonner’s contact.

Rousso’s will be available at the Lewes Dinner in the corridor for those that require them. Those not attending, must let the Secretary know numbers required as we will only order to requirements.

The Treasurer reported that Herstmonceux are happy for us to have a small service to commemorate the Battles of Arras and Passchendaele, we just need to let them know the date.

The Chairman distributed lunch menus for Sunday 29 October at the Lansdowne Hotel. Timings are 1230 for 1300 and the cost is £19.00 per head. The Secretary will also distribute these with the minutes.

He also requires availability for the Poppy collection at Sainsbury’s by the next meeting. The dates of the appeal are 1 – 10th of November. The Secretary will chase the RBL for details.

He also re-iterated that both the Hampden Park Remembrance and PINWE Remembrance services will go ahead even if we hear nothing from the organisers.

The statue is being shipped from Canada and will arrive shortly at Langney Primary school who have built a replica trench in which the statue will sit. The plinth has been ordered and will hopefully arrive at the end of October. Once the stonemason has married the two, it is hoped to formally unveil the statue on Fri 10 Nov.

Pal Wickham’s funeral will take place on Tues 8 Aug, 1345hrs at the Eastbourne Crematorium.

Other dates for diary:
5 Sept Goodwood
9 Sept PWRR Open Day/Annual Reunion, Lewes
23 Sept Presentation of Colours to PWRR
30 Sept Trip to France
12 Oct RS Quiz Night

Money taken at the meeting amounted to £45.00.

There being no further business the Chairman closed the meeting at 2045hrs. The next meeting will be held on Wed 6 Sept 2017 at 2000hrs.
