THE QUEENS REGIMENTAL ASSOCIATION CHICHESTER BRANCH

Minutes of the meeting held at the Chichester City Club on Wednesday 28th June 2017.
The meeting opened with a minutes silence for those no longer with us.

Members present: D. Tilley, E Drew, J Bailey, E Hensby, T Booker, A Drew, M Bright, S Ingrey, P Alner, B Keen, F Hill, R Jenner.

Welfare: The chairman tasked Richard Jenner with providing a list of Buglers we can call upon for future events.

Minutes:
All members were sent a copy of last months minutes via email or post. The following members stated that they cannot download them in their present format, S Ingrey, Allan Drew, Pete Alner, Graham Maidment. This will be passed onto the secretary.

Chairmans report:
Dave Tilley opened the meeting and thanked the members for attending . He then said that the Albuhera was well attended and enjoyed by all, there were no complaints.
Dave then gave a brief report on the Tree Dedication service to the late Colonel David Beveridge at the QRMWG on the 4th June 2017 and said that we will be paying a visit next year. Janet was pleased with the grandchildren’s participation.
Dave then asked the members present on their views about future meetings. It was proposed by Eric Hensby that we hold official meetings every month, this was seconded
by John Bailey. All members present voted in favour that the monthly meetings will all be of
Official meetings.

Secretaries report: Nil from secretary.

Treasures report: Eddie Drew gave a breakdown of the Albuhera Dinner and thanked Peter and Macrina Alner for running the raffle. He gave detailed report of the finances to date, anyone wishing to examine the accounts can arrange to do this with Eddie.
The coach for the trip to Canterbury has been booked, book your seats with Eddie now as they are going fast.

Entertainment: Veterans Buffet at City Club on Monday 31st July 2017, starting at 11:00 hrs the QRA Branch , Royal Sussex Association and guests welcomed, cost £10.00 pp returns to Eddie by 26th July 2017.


AOB: Alan Drew read out a couple of emails received from Alasdair, one on a petition by the RAF to save Biggin Hill the other wanting stories for the Journal of those that done a interesting posting.
Dave Tilley said that we need to send a better account of our yearly activities for the journal supported with pictures.
Dave reminded members to bring a present for the raffle for the veterans function. He also stated that the RNA veterans might join us on this day. He also handed out a copy of a letter from Jim Cooper for the members.
Dave also mentioned that the Royal Sussex Association may be joining us for the Christmas lunch , if they do agree to this we may have to change the date from the Wednesday 6th to the Monday 4th December , this will be a two course function, more details to follow.
It was proposed by Peter Alner and seconded by Bob Keen that the Branch pay the costs of the Tree Dedication service in memory of the late president Colonel David Beveridge. This was passed unanimously by the members.

Diary Dates: Wednesday 26th July 2017 Official Meeting at 19:30 hrs.
Monday 31st July Veterans Buffet in City Club 11:00 Hrs.
Saturday 9th September Royal Sussex Annual Dinner at Lewes.
Saturday 23rd September coach trip to Canterbury PWRR New Colours.
Monday 4th December 2017, Christmas Lunch 12:30 for 13:00 hrs subject
to confirmation.
Wednesday 28 th March 2018 AGM at 19:30 hrs
Saturday 19th May 2018, Albuhera Dinner at Beachcroft Hotel.


Next meeting on 26th July is a Formal Meeting 19:30 hrs.

There being no more business to discuss the meeting closed at 20:25 hrs..
