I attended Dave Dumbleton's funeral yesterday in the Norfolk, a stones throw from the Northern boundry of the Thetford Battle Area, Approx 10 past members attended from the Regiment. Including Ricky the Baker and Stan the man Crochren. Although I spoke to them after in the local hostelery I am terrible for remembering names(a sign of old age). Dave served in the Drums from Lemgo through to Dover. He then to the Depot and then on to be Drum Major of 2 R Anglians. After leaving the Regular Army he was hijacked by Norfolk Army Cadet Force to join and teach their Corps of Drums. The church was packed (standing room only) Mainly by members of Norfolk Army Cadet Force. It was a good send off. His wfe Sharon who he met in Berlin in 82 wrote a moving tribute to him. I rember speaking to Dave outside the White Hart in Lewes several years ago. He had survied Cancer but a Brain Tumor finally took him.
Another Worthing man has gone 2 in a week.
