: : Hi Colonel Rod,
: I remember a few Whites (always referred to as Chalky) in the Bn. The Regiment was in Shorncliffe in Ross whilst 'A' Coy was doing the KAPE tour - the Bn was in NI then. There were only 2 companies in the Bn ('A; & HQ) due tio the run down of NS at this period & HO moved to Ross & then when 'A; Coy rejoined the Bn we moved to Napier prior to Public duties in '63. 'A' Coy over 160 strong with elements of HQ Coy personnel. I was the clerk & pay clerk for the Coy - CSM Pace was the CSM. The KAPE tour we were stationed at Maresfield Camp (Int Centre) until we were evicted due to unsoldier behaviour, and on to Crowborough Camp
Many thanks to all of you. I always think of Shorncliffe as being separate to Folkestone - silly me! Now have the full story on Nick White from Tony. I wasn't with the Battalion on that tour.
