: i just noticed that a couple of my cockeral breeding silver laced pullets from last year have a black mark on there legs.not all pullets maybe 4 out of 30 and only one mark on one leg or one mark on both legs.i have checked for obvious but is definately in with yellow.any thoughts?is genetic?use in breeding pen or not?

Black marks are not uncommon on Cockerel breeding females. I can remember when cockerel breeding females had problems with feather stubs on their legs as well.
I would have no problem using a good female with black spots on the leg. However, I would take particular notice of the males that she throws to ensure that they did not carry the spots.
The black marks stem from the infusion of Dark Brahma blood used in the make up of the cockerel breeding Silver Laced.
