School of Visual Arts student looking for cast for her thesis film. The film, working title: Prologue, set in 1945 England, gives just a brief glance into how women’s lives were changing post World War 2. The film uses literary examples such as Jane Eyre to exemplify a mixture of emotions from wanting autonomy, freedom of choice, to the simple desire to be loved and needed. The film follows an American woman named Clare as she is about to embark on a journey to join her husband in India. While preparing to leave, she goes into a local bookshop where she subsequently falls in love with the owner, Charles.
Over the few hours they spend together, they begin to see similarities in one another. Each has a past, each wants something more, each feels alone.
I am looking to cast for the part of Charles - Englishman in his mid 40s, Clare - American in her early to mid 20s, and Clare’s Aunt Elizabeth (English) - 50s.
The shooting dates are: December 1st through the 8th.
We will be filming in and around Rhinebeck, NY.
