LISA’S SCREENWRITING WORKSHOP
Screenwriter, award-winning filmmaker, and journalist Lisa Katzman is offering a six-week summer Screenwriting Workshop beginning Tuesday, June 23th (from 6 to 9 pm). The fee is $400.
The Screenwriting Workshop is suited both to beginners and more experienced writers who are working on screenplays they would like to develop in a workshop environment. Lisa’s approach to writing a screenplay draws on classic narrative films as well as experimental cinema, myth, depth psychology, and various story telling traditions. Participants need a willingness write regularly outside of class, to be open to the process of hearing and giving feedback, and to re-writing. The workshop is especially useful to those who want to tell personal stories in the medium of film.
Lisa Katzman has taught screenwriting at Graduate Film Program at New York University, Bard College, and Tulane University. Lisa is the producer and director of Tootie’s Last Suit, an award-winning documentary about the Mardi Gras Indian culture of New Orleans. She is currently producing and directing Flamencos: Here and There, a documentary about the cultural history of Flamenco, and Post Disaster: 9/11 and Katrina, a documentary about the environmental effects of both catastrophes. She has collaborated with director Charles Burnett. Her screenplay Tamar’s Tale will be co-directed by her and Anne Sophie Birot.
