CALL FOR ENTRIES.

ZERO - Focusing on a niche in the independent film community which has been traditionally ignored by the masses. The over-availablity of cameras and computers has opened film/video making to nearly everyone in the past 5 years; we seek to unearth, bring to light, and celebrate works which surpass their modest production means as well as the artists who've created them.
Zero is dedicated to screening films and videos which are one or many of the following:
+self financed.
+ zero budget.
+personal cinema.
+ film/video which in it's structure comments or tries to advance the boundaries of narrative storytelling in relation to film history.
+ film/video which in it's structure comments or tries to advance the boundaries of conceptual video art.
+film/video which defies a single genre label.
+artists who continue to create simply because they feel they have something to say, and who can and will continue to create regardless of, and without a primary interest in financial success.

In the age where the majority of festivals are Hollywood marketing campaigns, and even "indie" and "underground" festivals screen financed films, we are here to offer something different. We recognize authentically independent films and filmmakers who take risks and fight the odds to see their visions through.

The Zero Film Festival is the first festival of it's kind, designed to showcase zero budget films, and open up the door for original and innovative works from DIY filmmakers with inspiration and dedication, who sadly are all too often overlooked by the mainstream festival circuit.

The Zero Film Festival is a year round, traveling exposition, playing in theaters and alternative venues across the US and abroad.

The Zero "Showcase" is a museum exposition highlighting the very best of the above work. The Zero "Showcase" will also seek out and present the work of artists who have been working and thriving in the above and achieved success on their own terms (in other words, each year, the work of an artist who has inspired us to create ourselves)

*submission note: Submissions accepted into the "Festival" may differ from submission accepted to the "Showcase" and vice versa.
