BANG VENTURES is launching a contest in late September called --You Be
The VC (www.youbethevc.com) --it will award young entrepreneurs
funding and development for their technology start-up ideas. As part
of that effort, we thought to create another contest for filmmakers
giving them exposure to an audience of millions.
Theme: Comedic Shorts on Start-up companies
Due Date: Oct. 7, 2007
Winners Announced: Oct. 15, 2007
Prize: We will give $1000 to the winning entry (minimum of 25 entries
must be received) and $500 to second place. $250 to 3rd. All entries
will be potentially featured on the site.
Length: 15 seconds to 2.5 minutes
Target: 18-32 year old college educated techies and entrepreneurs
Standard: Edgy is fine, but we basically are going to enforce a PG-13 standard.
Note: We have major sponsors for this effort including Amazon.com,
WPP, and CNBC (who will regularly update viewers on the contest
efforts including things like the shorts).
Acceptable Start-up Themes:
1. Pitching investors (basically like a movie pitch only its poorly
dressed geeks running technology companies -see examples on YouTube)
2. Office Environment: The Office/Office Space/Dilbert--you get the
idea. Interesting office politics, romance, bankruptcy, disasters and
tension filled situations particularly ones that emulate a start-up
technology company environment.
All entries should be uploaded to YouTube and be available in
downloadable formats.
