I have to concur with the above letter writer. I don't understand the usefulness of the Chamber. I assume that the farmer's market vendors will be check for proper Tax ID's to insure sales tax conformity for the local economy, as well as any other vendor setting up shop in a "crafts stall" around town or on Rock City Road.

The tax coffers should be replenished greatly by the collecting of proper taxes and the insurement that workers are paid the legal minimum wage and are offered the same benefits of all legal workers.

I love the idea of a farmer's market, I have to agree that this just doesn't seem to pass the smell test and once again the town is being bamboozled into a fraud that benefits a few at the expense of storefronts that carry an unfair burden.

Hey, but I'm only someone who owns a home here, pays property taxes, school taxes and the like and I guess under the guise of the People's Republic of Woodstock and their lack of regard for those who want a real economy that is sustainable and benefits the schools, the town, the infrastructure, pays for the police, the ambulance services, road repairs, etc., I guess once again we just have to live with it.

If I could sell my house in this market, I would leave. I've had enough of this attitude too. The self-righteous preaching that those of us who want to live by the law are ignored.

I hope in the new Town Board, that someone stands up and has the courage to say that what has happened here isn't right and that something has to be done to make it fair to all of us. Hey, I like cheap produce too, but I don't patronize Walmart for their anti-worker policies, I suggest we all boycott the phony guise of this market to the same extent.
