Are they local farmers paying local sales taxes? Hiring people at a livable wage? Or are they just setting up shop on basically free land and selling at a discount to local markets that have real expenses that they incur?
It is easy to make a profit on the backs of teenagers, not paying sales taxes, not paying for insurance, liability, or any other taxes such as school taxes etc. like all the other local businesses.
I agree that this amounts to a hijacking of the economy of Woodstock that benefits a few, supplies little, and in the long term does great damage to the local merchants or people who want to open businesses or invest in Woodstock.
Who is deciding this garbage? I would rather support true local merchants.
