American Heart is a documentary film that weaves footage from Walter Reed, Ground Zero, and the war in Iraq with video from the 2007 "Summer of Love" benefit concert tour for injured vets, which featured Jefferson Starship, Big Brother and the Holding Company, Quicksilver Messenger Service, and others.
The name "American Heart" refers to a photograph taken by Doug Potoksky in the wake of September 11, 2001--a photograph that is permanently hanging in New York City at Penn Station, and which became part of the collection at the Smithsonian National Museum of American History. Another of Doug's photos was chosen as the Official Dedication Photo for the Smithsonian 9/11 exhibit.
