Chassis Plate POsition?

Since the original chassis plate was removed from my car by person or persons "unknown," I have no idea where it should go. I've looked at all of the photos from 30/01 to the 60's series & only see 2.

Should it be centered over the steering wheel shaft (RHD), centered on the firewall or where?
