I'm in the process of restoring the seats in my Mk1. As I'm taking the seats apart what appear to be "restored" seats, I find some construction that leaves questions. The seat back appears to have been supported by wire both vertically & horizontally (Photos available). What kind of wire? Was it just wire, or did it include springs? Was bottom construction the same?
Seat curve is formed by heavy paperboard. Is that original?
Any guidance would be appreciated. I'm in midst of this project & have an idea of how I want to proceed. But, would like to know what is original.
