Generator location on RHD Car

I've had problems fitting a belt to the generator on my RHD Turner, 30/206. A previous owner fit a home-made bracket that raises the generator so high, it sits slightly above the steering shaft. But, at the rear of the generator, it is within 1/16-inch of the steering shaft. See 30/206 photos.
