Norm,
I run 8 inch drum brakes on the front of my Turner (got 2 sets a while back when I first started racing) and I was told these were an optional upgrade on Sprites. When I needed new pads, I just sent the shoes out for relining and used new Sprite springs which have worked fine so far.
You most likely will find you need to remove some metal from the backing plate to clearance for the new hubs. It is easy to do once you have a handle on what needs to be removed. It's been several years since I did it, but remembered it to be not much of an issue.

: I have my Turner up in the air & the rear apart to install the MiniMania double bearing axle kit. Now, I find that the brakes & backing plate are not Spridget. And, I have the 8" drums.
: Any of you USA Turner guys have any idea how available parts are for these?
