LOL, so I'm not the only one who thought public school history

In Reply to: I think I'm going to enjoy it more than in times past, but that's only posted by because I watched the HBO series "John Adams" - sm klowe on July 03, 2008 at 14:25:02:

was taught just as clinical as can be (name...place...date...NEXT!)! ; ) In all honesty, I've learned far more from my own reading and during my adult life than I ever did in school! : O And yes, I knew about John Adams and Thomas Jefferson dying on the same day, but it wasn't because I heard it at school. It's too interesting of a detail to put in the textbooks, y'see! ; )

Yeah, in some ways, we've come a long way, baby. In others, well.....

LOL, I like to watch fireworks at a distance and on tv. I'm a huge chicken w/o having to think of my young boys! Hubby likes to get the boys involved w/ fireworks at my parents' house (fireworks laws not so stringent), and I just cringe every time my babies handle them!! I know hubby is entirely capable and all that, but still, the mom in me will never rest until it's over!

Enjoy the day tomorrow! : )

: After watching the tar and feathering scene, I'm really glad that we've progressed since colonial days (that was truly barbaric; although I'm no fan of our legal system and I'm repulsed by lethal injection, punishments in the past were truly blood-thirsty).

: I never knew that John Adams and Thomas Jefferson died on the same day (kinda annoyed that our public school system taught me history in a most boring manner!).

: And, of course, I always enjoy the fireworks I can see from my driveway. At least I'll be able to celebrate this 4th of July without the worry of having my first born in harm's way, so THAT's something I'm really grateful for.
